According to The World Health Organization, the Zika virus is spreading rapidly and can cause birth defects. If you’re in an area that has a lot of mosquitoes you’ll want to learn all that you can about commercial insect repellents.
Insect repellents can help to stop the spread of the Zika virus as well as many other insect-borne illnesses. Insects can spread viruses causing fevers, rashes, joint pain, red eyes and a myriad of other symptoms.
What Insect Repellents are Available
There are many great insect repellents that are readily available. You’ll want to find some that have one or more of the following ingredients in them: deet, lemon oil, eucalyptus, picaridin and chemicals such as IR3535 and the chemical 2-undercanone. Other plant oils such as citronella, cedar, lemongrass, and geraniol as well as rosemary are also common ingredients.
You’ll want to find products that are at least 20 percent picaridin for the most effective ingredients. Spray them in and around the area that you’re residing in for the best results.
Select products that are safe
You’ll want products that are safe for the environment and safe around your business as well as your family members. Always select insect repellents that are EPA registered. You can find the EPA registration number somewhere on the back of your label.
Products containing Deet should never be used around infants that are younger than the age of 2 months. Never allow young children to use insect repellents on their own, always apply it for them and keep all repellents out of their reach.
In areas that have been recently sprayed avoid allowing anyone in the area until the spray has dried and is not longer able to be in contact with human skin.
With so many viruses rampant in today’s era, you’ll want to protect your family and your business by using bug sprays that will prevent infestations and contamination that could spread viruses.
An alarming fact . . .
According to statistics, over 500 million people will be stricken with insect-borne viruses this year alone. You don’t want to be one of them and you certainly don’t want to subject anyone in your family or your business to such conditions.
Spray insect repellents around the perimeter of your home and of your business. Spray in areas where you frequently see insects as well.
Avoid leaving anything out that could lead to an infestation such as foods and standing water sources. Keep debris away from the facility as well to ensure that the repellent is able to provide a solid barrier against insects.
Commercial repellents work by triggering something in the insects that will attract them and still poison them. The repellents then kill the insects.
Insects that return to their homes are spreading the repellent to their home and causing other insects to die off as well. Insects don’t like certain smells and will avoid these areas as well.
Using commercial insect repellents can save lives of your customers and family when you use them properly in your business and around your home. You can select from a variety of types.
